The 2nd annual “Ida Cox Music Series” will begin this Saturday night in downtown Toccoa. Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that they are looking forward to a successful summer of outdoor music. “One of our goals in having this series is that it will to help to promote music in our community,” said Crosby. “Music has been an important part of the history of Toccoa and we want to enjoy it now and encourage young people in the area of music, give local groups a platform, but also introduce regional music as well.” Crosby said that the free outdoor concerts will run every Saturday night in June and July on Doyle Street between Sage and Pond streets from 7 to 10 p.m. “It is very diverse this year,” said Crosby. “We want to represent several different genres of music.” Those genres include big band, bluegrass, rock, alternative folk, and more.
