Ethan Martin Making MLB Debut Today Vs. Braves

Toccoa native Ethan Martin will make his major league debut tonight in Philadelphia against the Atlanta Braves.  The Phillies have announced that they have called up Martin to pitch in the series opener against the Braves at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.  The 2008 Stephens County High School graduate is 11-5 with a 4.12 Earned Run Average for Philadelphia’s Triple-A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs.  He is 6-3 with a 2.80 ERA in his last 10 starts, with opponents in those 10 starts hitting just .199 off of Martin.  Martin went to the Phillies as part of a trade last year.  He was originally a first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008 after his senior year at Stephens County, where he was named Georgia Gatorade High School Player of the Year as a senior when the Indians went all the way to the state AAA baseball finals.
