Toccoa native Ethan Martin is scheduled to head back to the mound today for his second major league start. Martin is set to get the ball for the Philadelphia Phillies this afternoon as the Phillies host the Chicago Cubs at 1:05 p.m. The 2008 Stephens County High School graduate and former first-round Major League Baseball draft pick was called up last week and made his major league debut last Friday in Philadelphia against the Atlanta Braves. Martin struck out four in the first two innings of the game last Friday, but the Braves’ offense warmed up in later innings. Overall, Martin last Friday went 4 1/3 innings and took the loss, allowing six runs and eight hits, while striking out six and walking three. Today, Martin faces off against Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija.
